Bloomfield Public Schools Convocation 2023 was an ideal time to welcome back staff for the start of a new school year, Wednesday, Aug. 30.
Attendees heard from administrative and staff leaders, listened to successful Bloomfield High School alumnus talk about the value of a BPS education and congratulated district 2023 Teacher of the Year Kimberly Thode from Wintonbury Early Childhood Magnet School.
Thode discussed the importance of teachers building personal connections with their students. This year's convocation theme was: "Power of the Graduate".
This was also the last district convocation for both Superintendent Dr James Thompson and Bloomfield Board of Education Chairman Donald Harris. Both have served the district with distinction and are retiring after 12 years of service.
