In an effort to ensure colleges are aware of the academic achievements of students from underrepresented populations, The College Board has developed a National Recognition Program that celebrates exceptional students from the following categories: Rural Area/Small Town, African American/Black, Hispanic/Latino, Indigenous/Native American and First-Generation College Students. In addition to these students being celebrated at the February Board of Education Meeting, this recognition increases the likelihood of college acceptances and scholarship offers.
