Christopher Prescott, former program director for the Capital Region Education Council, has been hired to be Bloomfield Public Schools’ new School to Career Specialist. He starts today, Oct. 17.
Mr. Prescott lived in Bloomfield in his elementary and middle-school years. He is a passionate youth advocate and mentor. Mr. Prescott is also a former overseas professional basketball player who once served as Assistant Athletic Director at Northwest Catholic High School in West Hartford.
He is the founder of M-Pact Mentoring Inc., which provides mentoring and development programs for youth.
In his new job, Mr. Prescott will be counseling middle and high school students in developing success plans that guide them from middle school to senior year in high school and beyond. He also will organize career-development workshops.
“I am excited to start my new job,” Mr. Prescott said. “As a kid from Bloomfield, I am deeply grateful to everyone who poured into my development as part of the Bloomfield public school system, and I’m humbled by the opportunity to give back and shape the next generation. My mission will be to guide our brilliant young minds from classroom to career, ensuring they harness their innate talents and aptitudes. ‘’
Bloomfield High School Principal Jesse White remembers ,fondly, a young Prescott from the days he taught him at Carmen Arace Middle School.
"He is a welcome addition to the Bloomfield Public Schools family,'' Mr. White said. "As a former student, he was always a personable and driven young man. We have watched his journey and grateful that our paths have crossed. I am looking forward to see what he does relative to connecting our students with meaningful career opportunities."
