Dear Bloomfield Public Schools family:
We would like to thank Niagara Bottling, LLC for its generous donation of $38,850 to our school district. These funds will be shared equally among our seven schools to support educational programming. Niagara, located in Bloomfield, has been a valued corporate partner to our district.
On our website -- www.bloomfieldschools.org – is a story about Wintonbury Early Childhood Magnet School’s thriving Farm to School program. You will read how our pre-school children are growing, nurturing and learning about healthy foods, vegetables and fruits - and how to prepare them. The expansion of the current nutrition program was made possible via a state grant.
We believe our emerging nutrition program - and partnership with two local farms and Bloomfield High’s Harris AgriScience and Technology Center – has the potential to become a state model.
Recent analytics data shows our new web site has generated 7,500 uses over the past eight weeks. We are encouraging families and members of our community to put Bloomfield Public Schools in your pocket by downloading our new community App available on these platforms:

We are reminding families about the district’s on-going Food Drive, through November 20, to support Bloomfield’s Food Bank. Non-perishable food items may be dropped off at any of our schools. The food drive will culminate on November 20 with a “Stuff the Bus” event at each school.
As part of our continuing efforts to engage families we - in collaboration with Bloomfield Social & Youth Services and other partners - hosted Thursday the first of a series of free monthly financial empowerment and self-care workshops. The next workshop is Thursday, Dec. 14, at the town community center, 330 Park Ave. The topic is “Self-Care and Parenting”. In-person and virtual attendance options are available, as is childcare for those who come in person. The last workshop will be May 9, 2024
Congratulations to the BHS boys' and girls' soccer teams for having stellar seasons. Both lost last week in the first round of the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference state tournament. It was the first time both teams qualified for the tournament in the same year.
Congratulations, also, to one of our distinguished alumni. Alleah Red is a new member of the WFSB-Ch. 3 News Team. She was born and reared in Bloomfield, graduated from BHS and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Central Connecticut State University.
You can watch Ms. Red’s reporting on Eyewitness News weekend mornings from 5 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Saturday was Veterans Day. A heartfelt thanks to all who have served our country.
Dr. James Thompson, Jr.
Superintendent, Bloomfield Public Schools
