An adult woman

Dear Carmen Arace Intermediate School Families,

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year!

I am excited to start my tenth school year as the principal of Carmen Arace

Intermediate School. I want to thank you for trusting your children with us. Our goal is to develop and prepare your children for the best of what life has to offer. When students are part of Carmen Arace Intermediate School, they will be safe, happy, and learning how to become college-and- career ready. We look forward to working collaboratively with our families and the community to build a better world.

CAIS students will be challenged to further develop their understanding of the concepts and the academic skills aligned to the Common Core State Standards. They will use this knowledge to ensure that they are prepared for middle school, high school, college, and/or career. Supporting students to engage in their learning is a team effort. In helping students learn executive functioning skills, our school utilizes the POWERSCHOOL feature. This feature helps to ensure that work is being handed in, assignments are being completed, and will help you review test grades with your child.

Please reach out at any time to your child’s teacher(s) to ask for clarification or support.

During the 2023-2024 school-year, CAIS will use the CPS (Collaborative & Proactive Solutions) ideology and the CASEL Frameworks to assure the healthy social development of every child so that each one has the knowledge, skills, and resiliency to be successful in a rapidly changing world. CPS is used to support the development of problem-solving skills and works to teach ways of thinking about unsolved problems. For more information about CPS, please visit www.livesinthebalance.org. The CASEL framework supports students' understanding of self, awareness of others, and how to manage in our world: https://measuringsel.casel.org...

As always, I wish you all a wonderfully productive school year and hope to develop an open line of communication between your homes and our school. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Sarah L. Williams
