Greetings CAMS Families:

This week will complete our first month of school.

We are now in the throes of reinforcing our routines and expectations.

We plan to complete benchmark testing this week and begin using the data to establish appropriate placement and tailor instruction for maximum achievement.

We have continued our Wellness Wednesday initiative where we use an all hands-on-deck approach to address the social emotional needs of our students through a program called Second Step. The climate theme at Arace for the month of September has been Relationship & Community Building.  Our first Second Step Unit is titled: Managing Relationships and Social Conflict. This Wednesday we will reinforce this theme through activities in all classes.

To accomplish our goals for students, we will need you to reinforce the following items at home:

1.    Adhere to all academic and behavioral expectations including daily class schedules and school procedures/policies.

2.     Come to school, daily, on time, in uniform, and focused on being successful!

3.     Be prepared each day with:

a)     Large 3-ring binder (that zips closed, if possible)

b)    School agenda

c)     Notebook paper

d)     Lock for the locker (purses, bags, cell phones, and personal items are to be placed in student lockers

e)     2 pocket folders for each subject (i.e., math, science, language arts, and social studies)

f)     Pencils and pens

4.     Be present and on time for each class. Violation of this policy will result in detention and possibly suspension if chronic.

5.     Ensure cell phones, ear pods, and Apple watches are not heard or seen by anyone at any time while in school. All will be confiscated should there be a violation of this expectation.

6.     Follow the dress code guidelines:

a.     Collard Tops and Sweaters: White, Yellow, Black

b.     Bottoms: Khaki, Navy, and Black

c.     No hoodies

d.     No open toe shoes

e.     No leggings, no sweats, no jeans

If a student is not in compliance with this policy, a parent/guardian will be asked to bring in appropriate clothing to school.

7.     Outside food deliveries are not allowed.

8.     Student immunizations and physicals must be current. Contact the school nurse at 860-286-2622 extension 2025 to ensure student immunization and physicals are current.
