Dr. James Thompson

Dear Bloomfield Public Schools family:

I am excited to announce the launch of our redesigned district website and new mobile app.

In an effort to keep our community better connected with what’s happening in our schools, we invite you to download our app on your mobile device. You will have the opportunity to read about the accomplishments of our students and staff and receive updates on special events and programs. You can download the app by scanning our QR code.

The work to restructure our district website and launch this new app was a collaborative effort to enhance our communication with families and the Bloomfield community. This initiative is one of our key district goals for 2023-2024.

In addition to the website and app, the district is also active on Facebook and Twitter, where you can also download the QR code.

 ATHLETICS

The high school football season started Sept. 8.  Bloomfield High won its home-opener vs. Hartford Public 42-6. The Warhawks have reached the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference championship three consecutive years.

This year, all tickets, which cost $5,  to the games must be purchased online. There will be no tickets sold at the door.

FOOD SERVICES UPDATE

As part of the national program, known as the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) all students in our school district will receive a free healthy breakfast and lunch at school. Families will not have to pay a fee or submit an application.

 UPCOMING EVENTS

Next Tuesday, September 12, will be an early release day for all district schools due to the 2023 Primary Elections. The following day, September 13, will also be an early release day for staff professional development.

I would like to thank Niagara Bottling for their generous donation of more than 35 cases of bottled water to Wintonbury Early Childhood Magnet School.

We are looking forward to another productive week.

Sincerely,

 Dr. James Thompson, Jr.

 Superintendent of Schools
