Lynette Easmon, new BOE chair

Lynette Easmon,  a managing paralegal at Voya Financial and chairwoman of Bloomfield's Democratic Town Committee,  has been elected chairwoman of the Bloomfield Board of Education. 


She replaces Donald Harris, who did not run for re-election after serving 12 years on the board. Longtime board member Robert Ike also chose not to run for re-election this year.


 Previous BOE Vice Chairman Howard Frydman, general manager at Bloomfield Access Television, was re-elected to the post. Femi Bogle Assegai was elected board  secretary  Also, on the recently elected board are returning members:


  • Thomas Moore – supervisor at the State of Connecticut
  • Kimberly Dunbar – associate retirement benefits officer for the Office of the State Comptroller

New board members are: 

  • Dr. Lisa Simone – director of Alternative Education at Are Cooperative Educational Services
  • Tiffany Mack-Mohammed – strategic Human Resource Manager at Disney Greater Hartford.

 The role of the BOE is to establish policy, set an annual budget and conduct annual evaluations of the superintendent.


 This new board, in the near future, will begin a national search for a new superintendent, who will replace the retiring Dr. James Thompson, Jr.
