Dear Bloomfield Public Schools family:

As we approach the end of the calendar year, this is the time when we launch our district-wide Climate Survey. It is an invaluable tool that helps us to measure the level of positive school climate by getting anonymous feedback from students, families and staff.

We are encouraging all to complete the survey. The deadline is Thursday, Dec. 21.

Here is the link to the survey:

Researchers have found a strong correlation among positive school climates, attendance and student achievement. Sustaining and enhancing positive school climates is one of the district’s four key priorities; the others are:

  • Holistic Accountability (using data to monitor academic progress)
  • Rigorous Curriculum
  • Family and Community Engagement

Preparing our students for college and meaningful careers is another district focus.

Bloomfield High School, in an effort to support students in achieving their full potential, has developed a comprehensive SAT-preparation program for juniors. These twice-weekly prep sessions, which started Monday, Nov. 27 and conclude March 21, 2024, will better equip students with the critical- thinking strategies needed to excel on the new digital SAT. Students will also have the opportunity to take practice exams. The sessions are from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The SAT is a critical tool in measuring a student’s readiness for college and their aptitude in reading, math and writing. Parents/guardians of juniors are strongly encouraged to register their children for the program by contacting BHS -860-286-2630 – or emailing jwhite@blmfld.org or strombino@blmfld.org.

Schools are conducting Parent Teacher Conferences on December 6-8. We strongly encourage parents/guardians to meet with their children’s teachers so they can play a role in their child’s academic and social development. There will be Early Dismissal on those days.

We recently launched a refreshed district web site and new community App. Over the last three months we have added 10,000 new users to the district's web page. Thank you for this support and your interest in our schools. We are encouraging all school stakeholders to Put Bloomfield Public Schools in Your Pocket by downloading the App via our QR code available on our platforms:

The Bloomfield High School football team will be playing for the CIAC Class S state title Saturday, Dec. 9, when it takes on Cromwell/Portland Saturday, 10: 30 a.m., at Rentschler Field in East Hartford. Tickets can be purchased Online ONLY at gofan.com.
